Experiment with various memory parameters and modify the contents of the EEPROM

FT Prog is a lightweight programming utility that can be used with EEPROM memory sections belonging to devices manufactured by Future Technology Devices International (FTDI). The application enables specialists to experiment with various memory parameters and modify the contents of the EEPROM.

The package bundles a set of templates that can represent a starting point in creating your own parameter sets. Thanks to the tree-view display, navigating through the list of parameters is easily done. You can view the chip details and read information concerning the USB descriptors, as well as hardware specific data.

FT Prog enables you to modify the chip type, but this parameter can only be modified for template files. You can change other properties, such as the vendor and the product IDs.

A device can be either bus-powered or self-powered. If you choose the first option, you can set the maximum allowed bus power, while the alternative means that the device requires no current.

The application enables you to customize the manufacturer name, the product description and the serial number strings that appear in the EEPROM. It even includes a serial number generator that can automatically create a valid key for you.

Another function of FT Prog is its ability to program VNC1L and VNC2 firmware. It can be used as a flashing tool for such devices, enabling you to load a new ROM to the memory.

FT Prog can be of use to engineers who want to experiment with EEPROM and flash the firmware of VNC1L and VNC2 devices. Its options are intuitive, but it is not a tool recommended to those who have no experience related to EEPROM programming.
